Shah Shahidul Haque
Secretary General
Dear Community Members, Partners, and Friends,
It is both an honor and a privilege to extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt welcome to you as we gather for the First South Asian American Unity Parade in New York City.
The United States of America stands as a beacon of freedom, democracy, equality, diversity, and opportunity. A stronger and greater America is built through unity, hard work, civic responsibility, mutual respect, and the meaningful contributions of people from every background. As proud South Asian Americans, we are honored to contribute to the continued growth, innovation, and prosperity of this remarkable nation while preserving and celebrating our rich cultural heritage, languages, traditions, and values.
It reflects our shared commitment to strengthening community relationships, promoting cultural understanding, encouraging civic engagement, and inspiring future generations to embrace both their heritage and their responsibilities as proud Americans.
As Secretary General of the South Asian Unity Parade, I remain committed to fostering stronger cooperation among South Asian American communities, building meaningful partnerships, and establishing this annual event as a lasting symbol of unity, leadership, cultural pride, and shared human values.
On August 9, 2026, New York City will become a vibrant gathering place where families, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, business leaders, partner institutions, and friends from every background will come together to celebrate our diversity and reaffirm our common purpose. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected, and more prosperous South Asian American community while making positive and lasting contributions to the continued success of the United States.
Deepest Appreciation
I extend my deepest appreciation to our community leaders, partner organizations, sponsors, volunteers, participants, and supporters whose dedication, generosity, and unwavering commitment have transformed this vision into reality. Your service and collaboration demonstrate that when we stand together with a common purpose, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
As we celebrate this historic occasion, let us honor our diverse cultures, strengthen the bonds that unite us, and move forward together with hope, compassion, and determination. May this parade serve as a lasting symbol of peace, friendship, inclusion, and shared prosperity for generations to come.
May God continue to bless the United States of America with peace, strength, and prosperity.
